What is the Surrey Leadership Action Conference (SLAC)?
SLAC is a weekend long conference organized by youth, for youth. It is jam-packed with resources and opportunities for young leaders to learn, share, and grow. This year’s conference theme is speaking up through creativity and self-expression.
What to expect at the SLAC?
1. Networking – You’ll meet 100+ other students from across Surrey who are interested in making a difference in their community.
2. Training – There are many different workshops available. Learn skills in facilitation, project planning, and artistic expression.
3. Fun – It won’t be only work, there will be lots of free time and interesting activities to keep you occupied in between workshops and during the evening. Try learning to DJ, board games, late night basketball, weird competitions, and other stuff.
4. Action –Over the weekend you’ll meet other youth who are interested in similar issues as you. Time will be set aside for you to develop your ideas into reality, and even have the opportunity to apply for money to make it happen!
5. Food – Meals and snacks are provided throughout the conference
