Domestic violence occurs in relationships when a partner, ex- partner or family member attempts to physically or psychologically overpower another. Though it is more prevalent between partners and spouses, any form of violence, abuse, or intimidation that happens within a household or relationship, can be considered as domestic violence. Some of the forms domestic violence takes itself as are physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, threats of violence, and even economic of right deprivation. In marriages, both husbands and wives are affected by domestic violence, and in family situations, anyone could be a victim. Stalking is also considered as domestic violence, though it poses no direct threat, it allows discomfort and fear to develop within the victim . 1 in 4 women in their life time will be victim to some sort of domestic violence with their partner. 70% of all domestic violence cases happen after separation. 95% of domestic violence cases have been against a women.
