A little birdie told me...

It was one simple question that started it all: “What are you doing?”

Jack Dorsey, the creator of Twitter.com, has turned this simple question into a worldwide online sensation. It is the simple concept of wanting to know what others are up to that is making this website so popular; basically, it is a social network based solely on “Facebook status updates.” Attracting millions of people, from Perez Hilton to John Mayer to American President, Barack Obama, it is no doubt that almost everyone these days are “twittering”.

I used to be a skeptic who thought this as a foolish website with no purpose except to evoke privacy issues. I mean, who really cares whether or not one has brushed his or her teeth? However, curiosity took a firm grip on me and I made an account just to see what the hype was all about.

I have not been able to stop twittering since.

The eagerness of connecting with other people is what makes this site so addictive and Twitter makes this connection happen with ease. Using all types of technology, any twitter user can update his or her status via web, mobile texting and/or instant messaging. Even current events can be known at the exact moment as they happen with CNN and The New York Times joining in on the twittering action. Moreover, the interesting part of this whole twitter movement is the fact that one does not necessarily have to expect a response or give one and users are in complete control of the flow of information. In other words, Twitter is what one makes of it.

So… what are you doing?
